servers. These adders are sold in specific quantities (e.g., 100, 1,000) to
match the point count of a given system configuration, like PlantCruise or
Experion LX, providing the necessary software license to enable high-availability operations.
How it works
Licenses for redundancy: To run a redundant system, you need both a base
software license and additional licenses for the "redundant" points.
Matching quantities: The redundancy adder's quantity must exactly match the
number of SCADA points in your system. For example, if you have a system with
1,000 points, you would need a 1,000-point redundancy adder.
Enabling high availability: This ensures that if the primary server fails, the secondary
server can take over the control process without interruption, preventing a
"loss of view" of the core process.
